The beginning of the end

The end of 2008 draweth nigh, and the dawn of 2009 approaches!

As the year ends, all we could do is stop and think back. Throughout the year that has transpired and passed through, indeed a lot of things have happened. Things never foreseen or may be expected. But I wonder what I have learned throughout the year 2008. I can only see paths and decisions made. Decisions that may change or alter the paths we take and lead us to destinations, opportunities and goals we pursue in this life. As we look back, indeed there are a lot of memories, memories which will stay as is. Foot trails we can never erase.

But looking toward the future, we see more opportunities. We also see more challenges and trials. We may also see what life awaits us. But as Christians, may we see Christ as our main goal in life. Looking toward as He Himself draws nigh. The future only leaves us with questions. Questions of what will come to pass and what will we become of?

I myself have a lot of questions. And as time emerges change will definitely occur. The question is, “what kind of changes will this be?” But I wonder more on the spiritual matters of this world. Previously, we may have already seen the signs and warnings God’s Word fulfilling or fulfilled. I wonder how this will affect God’s people. I even wonder if these things would even affect Christians or not, or will they seemly continue on, never minding what lies ahead. New generations emerge, and sometimes God’s principles and His ways seem to be more than just a myth. The phrase “To live for Christ, to die is gain” seems to me, but just a mere word or phrase, lost its meaning and never to be shown or even known.

But perhaps the only thing I could do is leave this challenge. As we face the beginning of the end, who will you serve and who will you follow?

Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Who is your enemy?

Whenever in the battle field, it’s important for one to know “who is the enemy”. Basically, it’s one important aspect or factor if you ever decide to go to war. But I wonder, do you know the moment you received Christ as your Lord and Savior, that’s the same time you decided to go to war? Although in the spiritual sense, even when we we’re born physically, we are already at war. Because from the beginning of our life (except for Adam and Eve), we we’re at war with God. We just didn’t know it.

Romans 8:7 (King James Version)
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
James 4:4 (King James Version)
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

But once you received the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, your enemy was changed. You are now against the world, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against Satan himself and his cohorts.

Ephesians 6:10-12 (King James Version)
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Last verse (v12) describes who now our enemy is, as Christians. For some particular people, or Christians, they think we don’t need to bother to know our enemy or know what he can do against us. But I believe, as God has given us the Scripture, and the Scripture speaks a little or perhaps enough about our enemy that proves that we Christians need to know who our enemy is and what he can do against us Christians. Here are some verses describing who our enemy is:

1 Peter 5:8 (King James Version)
Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
2 John 1:7 (King James Version)
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
Revelation 12:10 (King James Version)
And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.
John 8:44 (King James Version)
Ye are of your father the devil, and the lusts of your father ye will do. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own: for he is a liar, and the father of it.
2 Corinthians 4:4 (King James Version)
In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.
John 10:10 (King James Version)
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

Reading the verses above and perhaps other books that may help you to identify our enemy, we may know him as the destroyer, the deceiver, the accuser of the brethren and other names that may describe him. Basically, these names also describes what he does, like for example, the name “Destroyer”. This pertains to his ability or craftiness in destroying people’s lives. Mainly his targets are of course Christians who do the will of God. Just sighting the life of Job, Satan was allowed by God to do anything against Job except to take his life. And, indeed he was able to destroy Job’s life, seeing that his wife left him and asked him to curse God and die. He experienced pain and sickness and losing his sons and daughters. This is just one example, and we can list a lot more perhaps. “Deceiver” as we know who acts simply to deceive or mislead people to do sin. What he does is to make things wrong to become right, and right to become wrong in the eyes of men. Being known also as the” Accuser”, or Accuser of the brethren, primarily to really target believers and accuse them of their old sins or past sins. By doing this, Christians who are weak and give in to the accusations of the enemy and does not hold on to the Righteousness of Christ which was imputed upon us (Romans 4, 2 Corinthians 5:21), is the enemies’ target.

So be warned and be ready. A soldier of the Lord should know who is his enemy.

Signs of time...

Here is something so blatantly been sent to email addresses.. and I got to get just a copy of it from our email add of our workplace. but before i show it. Read this verse first to be reminded that Christ did prophecy things to come.

Matthew 24:3-14
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

from these verses indeed we read Christ saying about false prophets and the like. We already know many have already popped out and blatantly say they are the Christ. And, perhaps as Christians expect more to come. But then as always the Bible is our guide and foundation of our faith and greater indeed that every Christian should know their Bible. If therefore you are weak, pray first that God will protect you and will guide you and teach you. And all things you have learned, may you remember it always. This I say that you read God's Word for this is your greatest defense against false teachers and false witnesses.

Now here is a message i just copied...

"-----Inline Attachment Follows-----

Jesus Christ: "You search the Scriptures because you think that in them you have eternal life; it is these that testify about Me; – (the word of God; John 5:39)

One of the Scriptures that testifies about Me:

Revelation 12:5 And she gave birth to a son, a male child, who is to rule all the nations with a rod of iron….

Your Lord Jesus is me! I am the reincarnation of Jesus Christ, and my name is Israel.

The Testimony of Jesus Christ: It has been written that the testimony of two men is true. (18) "I am He who testifies about Myself…." – (the word of God; John 8:17, 18)

Jesus Christ is me! If you (Islands) act accordingly upon my covenant with you, then you believe that Jesus Christ is me.

But if you (islands) do not fulfill or do not obey the commandments of my covenant within the given 40-day period, then the islands of the Philippines and the peoples dwelling on them will all be destroyed! You will all die because you do not believe that Jesus Christ is me.

Israel: All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth. – (the word of God; Matthew 28:18)

If you do not keep my covenant, then you will all die like what happened in Sodom and Gomorrah. Everybody will die except me because I am from above and I am not of this world (John 8:23). It cannot be that I would perish outside of Jerusalem because I am a prophet (Luke 13:33).

The Testimony of Jesus Christ: "Therefore I said to you that you will die in your sins; for unless you believe that I am He, you will die in your sins." – (the word of God; John 8:24)

My covenant with the peoples of the Philippines is written in my open book (The Salvation of God Through the Son of Man). The 40-day period started on November 16, 2008. I started to e-mail my open book and my open letter (The Signs of the Times) to the Islands of the Philippines on November 16, 2008.

Israel: "Islands, listen to Me in silence, and let the peoples gain new strength; Let them come forward, then let them speak; Let us come together for judgment. – (the word of God; Isaiah 41:1 [KJV/NASB])

Israel: "Do not think that I came to bring peace on the earth; I did not come to bring peace, but a sword. – (the word of God; Matthew 10:34)

Jesus Christ: "Do you suppose that I came to grant peace on earth? I tell you, no, but rather division; – (the word of God; Luke 12:51)

Israel: "My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me; (28) and I give eternal life to them, and they will never perish; and no one will snatch them out of My hand. (29) "My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of the Father's hand. – (the word of God; John 10:27-29)

If you are reading this letter in a computer, then PRINT this one-page letter [see attached file], and then PHOTOCOPY it as many as you can, and then distribute it to people in silence. If you are reading this on paper, then PHOTOCOPY it as many as you can, and then distribute it to people in silence.

What are your savings for, if you die after the given 40-day period? If you choose death, nobody will attend to your "wake" or to your "funeral" because everybody will die!

Therefore, choose LIFE. Fulfill or obey the commandments of my covenant within the given 40-day period so that You will not die until Judgment Day. Believe that Jesus Christ is me!

To those who have kept my covenant or acted accordingly upon my covenant, your names have been written in the book of life (Rev 20:12, 15; Rev 21:27) from the creation of the world (Rev 17:8). Yes, to my sheep, to those who follow me, your names have been written (from the foundation of the world) in the book of life of the Lamb (Rev 13:8). (I am the Lamb.)

Revelation 20:12 And I saw the dead, the great and the small, standing before the throne, and books were opened; and another book was opened, which is the book of life. The dead were judged according to what they had done as recorded in the books. [NASB/NIV]

Revelation 20:15 And if anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was thrown into the lake of fire.
To my sheep, seek to read my open book, and obey all the commandments!
The Son of Man: 'He who overcomes will thus be clothed in white garments; and I will not erase his name from the book of life, and I will confess his name before My Father and before His angels. – (the word of God; Revelation 3:5)

Your Shepherd,

Israel
(The Son of Man)"

It makes me shiver and alarmed that such people do this, but perhaps, does really remind us Christians to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and fulfill His commission. To be watchful and careful. Knowing who is false and Who is the Truth. We have a great task to fulfill and that is preaching & teaching the TRUTH and that is Christ Jesus.

John 14:6
Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: NO MAN cometh unto the Father, but by me.
Ephesians 2:8-9 (King James Version)
For by GRACE are ye saved through FAITH; and that NOT of YOURSELVES: it is the gift of God: NOT of WORKS, lest any man should boast.
Romans 10:9-10 (King James Version)
That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 -18
For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus will God bring with him. For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

Be computer careful...

Well, i think its just good to warn others and share my knowledge regarding computers. I just read about viruses and hackers and its really quite alarming. So perhaps this is just good enough to warn others. If you want to protect and hinder hackers from stealing information about you, be careful surfing the net, opening your emails, sharing files. It seems nothing is really safe these days. And that even your computer will turn against you and give all your passwords, private details about you to someone you don't even know. Practically being connected to one another is really a big help, but may cost you some big problems as well. But anyway I won't discuss all the matters about hacking and viruses here.. I might practically won't be able to explain it well anyway.

Here's a good site you could read more about it. And I recommend it, since practically, i believe sooner or later, this might practically play a big role in the future. When Christians will be hunted down like wild beast of the land.

The Dead Church

Revelation 3:1-6
And unto the angel of the church in Sardis write; These things saith he that hath the seven Spirits of God, and the seven stars; I know thy works, that thou hast a name that thou livest, and art dead. Be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die: for I have not found thy works perfect before God. Remember therefore how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast, and repent. If therefore thou shalt not watch, I will come on thee as a thief, and thou shalt not know what hour I will come upon thee. Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

Having been read this verse, it made me think “This pictures a familiar situation…”

Recently I have been reminded again by this verse after Rev. Acne (sorry if it’s a wrong spelling, don’t actually know his full name.. hehehe!), just shared a message at our Morning Service last November 16, 2008. He actually preached about the church and how he perceives the churches of today as deteriorating, esp. in the place of what we always look to as the land of greener pasture. Perhaps the same perspective I have, even observing the churches here in our nation itself, seemingly just following after the churches who once were active in preaching and reaching other nations. He reminded us of the purpose of the church and why it exists, of course that is to preach the gospel and also for edification of believers, so that they who are edified may go out and reach and preach the gospel as well. Somehow indeed I don’t often see that no more. We are so engrossed with worldly things and focused more on other things more than God and His will.

The situation of churches these days seem to be well pictured by the churches of yesterdays, even from the time of John the Revelator, to whom God revealed a sighting mystery. Reading the book of Revelations, although it’s a prophetic book, spoke at first about 7 different churches, with different kinds of backgrounds. I’m sure it’s really hard to understand the book itself but it is so clear that such churches exist before, and still can exist today. And therefore can act as a warning and reminder to our churches.

Previously I talked about the “dead me”, which explains that all Christian should really be dead to oneself but live for Christ. As the apostle Paul has been explaining in the verse of Galatians 2:20. But being a dead church, I don’t think that, that is God’s will. Just by reading the verse above surely shows a big warning and reminder. Shall we look to the verse above?

First the verse indeed addresses the church of Sardis and declares its status as “having a name, and that it lives but dead.” I’m sure this is understandable that Sardis Church is a very well known church and that it exist but it is actually spiritually dead. But I wonder why it is spiritually dead? On the consecutive verses, it gives a warning or instruction. That is, to be watchful or perhaps to observe and strengthen the things which remain and that are ready to die. Now what are these things that are ready to die? Possibly people? Or possibly ministries? Or possibly fellowships? No matter it is, it is inside the church and one can only know if it is ready to die, if one watches and observes. Meaning, one must have “The Godly discernment” to see these things that are dying. Now I wonder if Christians these days have this kind of discernment.

Indeed in God’s eyes, God found the church of Sardis’ works not perfect, or perhaps not worth it. I wonder why? An instruction is then followed by this statement. “Remember how thou hast received and heard, and hold fast and repent” In other words remember the day when you we’re saved. If I am to remember the day I was saved, what do I remember? Perhaps I remember what Christ has done for me. I remember His grace and His unconditional love, these things which are very essential in us, being a Christian. For without these things, we would never be called “Christian”, but doomed for eternity.

Remembering Grace from the verse Eph. 2:8 & 9, that it is not us who worked for our Salvation nor have any part of it, but God alone. And indeed because of that, God truly gave us a gift we don’t ever deserve, for we don’t have to work for it, but only receive it. It would never be so called “Grace”, if we had a part of earning our own salvation. God’s love in John 3:16, the love without condition, is one thing we should take note of. God does not require you to become rich or poor, to be a famous person or nobody. But simply because He loves us, He gave His only begotten Son to die for us.

These things we ought to remember. But for what reason? I believe that in every work we do, in every decision we make, we ought to do what God has done for us. I John 3:16 says, “Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.” Laying down our lives for others, no matter who they are, whether rich or poor, whether your enemy or friend, whether the ugliest person or the beautiful. A one called Christian should relay the message of Salvation through his life, as Christ has done in His.

It is indeed sad, that we forget what Christ has done for us; No longer recognizing the martyr Stephen who cried “Lord, lay not this sin to their charge” (Acts 7:60), while being stoned to death; No longer recognizing the death of many missionaries or the persecution of Christians who steadfastly moved forward reaching the lost. No longer desiring to hear one soul saying “God be merciful to me a sinner.” (Luke 18:13)

But may this be an encouragement and a challenge, for the verse itself declares:

Thou hast a few names even in Sardis which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy. He that overcometh, the same shall be clothed in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.”

In the church of Sarids’ there are still those who continue to be steadfast in serving God, in doing God’s will and therefore, God will not let their labor be in vain. Even from the situation of Sardis, God still extends His grace, by challenging them to change, and that whoever “overcometh” or perhaps change their ways, Christ will stand and declare him as His own.

Character of Man vs. Man of Character

At one glimpse I’m sure the title does not match up to each other nor find it even with meaning. But perhaps there is one thing I wish to talk about. It’s about the question “What kind of characters do people have these days?” in contrast to a person we can call a “Man of Character.”

Recent situations, events, or observations I have had, makes me wonder what is really happening these days. Man, even so-called Christians, seem to no longer mind to focus on becoming a man or woman of character. Practically observing young people, esp. people younger than I, really behave differently. Change is really happening and affecting each and everyone, depending on how one adjust to the change. The effects or changes, definitely changes mind settings and focus of people, especially now that we have technology, media and the like, one of the greatest factors of brain washing (if I may say it). Sometimes or most likely always, these things have so much grip on us, we can’t even say “NO” to it at all.

It such a pity that this is happening now, and sometimes in effect, there are many lives disoriented or misguided on what are their goals, where people ought to go or who to become. Therefore the man of character is left out.

Defining the “Man of Character,” I believe emphasizes a characteristic of a person (whether a man or woman) that is admirable, excellent and worthy of looking up to or as an example. So far in the Christian realm, there are so many names we can name as to be recognized as a man of character. David might be one, or Daniel. But remembering Christ, I would likely see him to be More Than a Man of Character. Of course He is our God and our Savior. But still he is the best example we could ever look up to, for sure, for He will never fail us ever.

But these days, our character seems to be becoming of no importance. We become satisfied simply of who we are. Carnal people. We would rather choose to sin than to do good as what our Lord have instructed and demonstrated for us. We always have that sense of vengeance or payback, esp. when we are hurt or offended. We always want to be treated fair and equal or something, but actually just want to “get even” with everything or actually be more than anyone else. And always forget, we are nothing but dust of the ground, and that there is God Who is greater than us.

Anyway where are we now, I seem to be lost in my own topic, but perhaps just describing the characteristic of man, or the true nature of man. Ever since the fall of man, we know, sin has corrupted us. And seemingly godly things are of no importance to us.

Romans 3:10-11
As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one: There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

From the verses itself, it says man has no desire of looking for God even. And so describes who we are, but nevertheless, God made a way for us to be taken out of such situation or state.

Romans 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

2 Corinthians 5:17
Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Through these verses and perhaps in our own experience of the Truth, we know, we can be changed and be molded in the likeness of Christ. If one doubts this, perhaps one have really haven’t known Christ at all. But to be called a man or woman of character, I do hope each Christians will look forward to becoming one, esp. on these days. Why? simple, because we are called Christians, we follow Christ. And, perhaps may this be a warning and reminder to Christians as we face this new period of time.

Matthew 24:4 - 13

The end is drawing near, and no one knows when. But WHAT IF, what if after reading this, His time has come, will you ever be ready? Will you ever be ready to face The Righteous One? What shall ye say then when He asks, “What has thou done in your life?”

Just an additional … to Christian Liberty

Just want to add more about the topic Christian Liberty… Just as I have read this verse in the Bible:

I Corinthians 11:23- 33
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. Let no man seek his own, but every man another's wealth. Whatsoever is sold in the shambles, that eat, asking no question for conscience sake: For the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof. If any of them that believe not bid you to a feast, and ye be disposed to go; whatsoever is set before you, eat, asking no question for conscience sake. But if any man say unto you, this is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord's, and the fulness thereof: Conscience, I say, not thine own, but of the other: for why is my liberty judged of another man's conscience? For if I by grace be a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks? Whether therefore ye eat, or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God. Give none offence, neither to the Jews, nor to the Gentiles, nor to the church of God: Even as I please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.

This simply gives more explanation about Christian Liberty. As what the first verse explains, all things we think we can do, even if it is right, is not always edifying or can nurture other’s spiritual life.Perhaps, I just have one good example, and that is drinking wine. We Christians have different perspectives on this matter. But basically we Fundamental Baptist forbid as much as possible not to drink. Taking from the verse Ephesians 5:18 and 1 Corinthians 6:19.

Ephesians 5:18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
1 Corinthians 6:19 What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?

Studying this verse, it shows that our body is something that we should take care of. We shouldn’t abuse or anything for as I Cor. 6:19 says, it is the temple of the Holy Spirit. And from which we know, a temple shouldn’t be disgraced or something. The question “How do you like your house to be like?” is the same way we should think of “How does the Holy Spirit want His temple (our body) be like?” Although the Bible never explicitly said we shouldn’t drink wine. It does warn us not to drink in excess or in other words be drunk. But as far as controlling the human flesh is concerned, we know, we are weak in this category. And so therefore, it is much better not to drink at all than to start drinking. This is why we choose not to drink. But if we do drink (due to health needs or what), a Christian has a responsibility not to be drunk because of it or else you might commit sin instead. Far more than just drinking is committing another sin which the first verses declares, that is offending others (the weak and the unbelievers). Here is what the Apostle Paul warns us about. Not all things edify.

The example apostle Paul spoke about is actually about eating food / meat that was offered to Idols. Practically apostle Paul explicitly did explain well enough about food / meat that are offered to idols. Eating food or meat in itself is not evil. But knowing it is offered to idols makes it another meaning or sense, since it is of the enemy. And therefore we cannot be with God and also be with the enemy. As the scripture says, “No man can serve two masters.” Therefore, since we are of God’s, we shouldn’t eat any food offered to idols. But in an instance, that once we are asked to go to a feast, and a food is placed in front of you to eat, Paul said, eat it without questioning or even examining the food. But if one says, the food is offered to idols, eat it not, for the sake of the one who told you about the food. On this example, Paul signifies more importance on thinking more of the others than ourselves. For what reason? It’s found in the last verse. “So that they may be saved.”

Just think of it, if a Christian continues to eat it, even with the warning, what happens? The man who informed you will be confused and will think his and your God is of no difference. There are other things that could happen or product of your own actions, but surely it will not glorify God at all. Perhaps just remember what Christ did. He thought of us first more than himself on the Cross.

The Message of God through Ptr. Jerson Eslao

Hehehe.... here i wish to write something Ptr. Jerson Eslao spoke of on the day of November 1, 2008 at the AFC of the Loakan Baptist Church... (So kung wala kayo... here is some things he talked about and perhaps some additional from me)

Its just that the message he relayed is quite something that has given interest in me... Or perhaps in as much as it is... it is something we usually neglect...

The Scripture we read and perhaps the source of his message is found at Romans 14 and I Corinthians 8 (whole chapters)... It has talked about believers eating meat or something.. but plainly it talked about different perspectives of Christian believers. Or as Ptr. Jerson said, our own conviction.... True, we Christians most often have our own convictions, beliefs or perspective about the do's and dont's in our life as Christian.... sometimes eating food itself makes a difference in our own beliefs, not only that but like watchin' movies and others.. we even quote scriptures as to why we believe on such things.... but then three things were pointed at that message.

1. Our convictions / perspectives should be edifying others
2. Our convictions / persoectives shouldn't stumble a young believer
3. Our convictions / perspectives should come from God's Word (the Bible)

Definitely reading the Scripture stated above talked about our own convicitons / beliefs / perspectives and also talked about our liberty / freedom... of course as we all know this freedom / liberty doesn't mean you can do everything you want to do... but its about freedom on doing what is right and pleasing unto God and man. As some say there is no such thing as absolute freedom. Freedom has its own limit. And Christians should learn how to give importance on that matter. That even we know that what we do is right, making sure that others know that "IT IS" right is also important... if one doesn't understand and may possibly be offended by what you do.. you do sin against God (I Cor. 8:12).

It's interesting that the Word of God gives more importance on "OTHERS" more than "whether what you do is right or wrong in your own perspective". But perhaps, it simply talks about GRACE and LOVE. These things i believe is the reason why we can call ourselves "Christians" (to those who receive and believe that Jesus Christ is Lord and Saviour). And, it is one reason why we are saved. Not because of who we are or what we have done. That is why in Ephesians 2:8 & 9 states, it is by grace through faith that we are saved, not by our own works or anything else. It is all God's work which is done because of LOVE and GRACE.

Although... It's quite awful or sad to see esp. matured and have grown old in the faith forgetting the young ones or even the unbelievers. Young ones or unbelievers look at them as examples. and, therefore forget that they are responsible or accountable to them. Its sad to see some who claim that they are matured and have knowledge on God's word yet, their lives offend the weak in Faith. It's sad that Christians who think highly of themselves definitely have no room to what others think of them. It's sad that they forget what Christ has done for them, not because of who they are or what they have done.... but simply because God loves them and Christ died for them. Truly a gift we don't ever deserve.

For E-knowledge again

How to remove autorun.inf worm

Previously there was a worm (not sure if it’s a virus or spyware or something but it was a worm), basically known as autorun.inf. Mostly, it is accompanied by other files like “amvo.exe, amv01.dll” or “ckvo.exe / ckv01.dll” stored at the directory of:

C:\Windows\system32\

And it copies itself to other drives, esp. usb flash drives.

This kind of worm can be removed by first deleting ”amvo.exe” or other suspicious file from the c:\windows\system32\

If you want to see other suspicious files containing virus, what I do is this:

From “C:\windows\system32” type “dir /ah”

Basically if you find something like a file with a .exe extension being hidden, you can further check them out by typing “attrib [filename]” and see their properties, whether they are a SYSTEM file, HIDDEN file, READ-ONLY file. If the file you entered has all these attributes, most likely they are virus. I’m not saying they are already virus. I’m just saying they are a suspect of virus. But anyway searching the net about their info is great to truly tell you what they are. And basically observing their behavior they are definitely a worm.

Anyway enough with the background / introduction. Removing this, you have to remove first its attribute, since you cannot delete this if it’s hidden or a read-only file. You then must type “attrib [filename] –s –h –r” (meaning you are removing their attributes), and after which, you can now delete them…BUT before doing this, it is best you are in “safe mode”. There are other sites that show how to remove autorun.inf, just google them out… J

But recently a different kind of autorun.inf made me go nuts… it’s still a worm, but tried to remove it by this kind of step, but I failed to do it.

This kind of autorun.inf has a companion which is “FOUND.000” directory and inside it would be the “USB_Files.chk” file also having the same “SHR” attributes(in other words its hidden and unable to easily delete it).

Having googled it on the net I found this site showing it’s info.

http://www.avira.com/ro/threats/section/fulldetails/id_vir/4331/worm_autorun.xtl.html

you will see the files accompanied by it and what affects in the registry

How to remove it? This is what I did….

First, re-start your computer in 'safe mode' probably best using "safe mode with command prompt”

press “alt + ctrl + del” to go to ‘task manager’

go to ‘processes’ tab and ‘end process’ suspecting virus or malware running in memory on safemode

some examples I ‘end process’ are named as

“system” (make sure you don’t end the other system) there could be two ‘system’ running in the safemode, end process the one who has bigger amount of mem usage. The safe one has at least 240K, the evil ‘system’ is going about 1000K

Other processes that you have to end may be ‘hate.sys’ and some unnecessary processes like ‘userinit’.

You must also end process “explorer.exe” (I know this is a needed program but the virus seem to use this to spread out itself…. Anyway that’s the reason we need to be in command prompt). This will put off some exploring abilities….

Next, having been disabled some programs that may help the virus / worm be active in the memory storage, it’s time for deletion…

Delete the files shown at the site i gave…..

Basically start at c drive or where windows is stored….

*Note: if you can’t delete it, check its attribute by typing “attrib [filename]” If it has an attribute of S H & R, remove it by typing “attrib [filename] –s –h –r”

Delete “hate.sys” found at c:\Windows\system32\drivers\

Delete “system” found at c:\Windows\system32\

Delete also the file winsis_x.inf (may be accompanied by other file so type it as “del winsis*.*”)

found at c:\windows\inf\

*removing autorun.inf

Type “CD found.000” entering the directory

Type “attrib USB_Files.chk –s –h –r and “del USB_Files.chk

Type “CD..

Type “RD FOUND.000” (sometimes even after deleting the file inside this directory you can’t remove this folder, if that happens, that’s ok…. Just ignore for the mean time, or perhaps type "attrib FOUND.000 -S -H -R" and try removing it again using the "RD")

Type “attrib autorun.inf –s –h –r” and “del autorun.inf” to remove autorun.inf

Next go to other drives or USB flash drives and do the same at *removing autorun.inf

After deleting every file, you will need to edit some changed entry at registry so

Type “regedit” and press enter

A window will appear and basing from the site I have given, you will see which values were changed.

Although you can ignore the change in HKCU but still you must edit the one at HKCR (HKCU means HKEY_CURRENT_USER and HKCR means HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT)

*Take note “a change in the registry is a risky part. One change may make your computer not work well.” So if you are unsure, try asking help from someone who knows this stuff…. I tell you I made a bad move when editing this, good thing it wasn’t that bad and was able to fix it.

What you only need to change is the one at “HKCR\exefile\shell\open\command” which was changed to:

"%SYSDIR%\drivers\hate.sys %1 %*"

The value you must place should be exactly what is on “HKCR\exefile\shell\runas\command”. If I am right, the data value of “HKCR\exefile\shell\runas\command” is

“%1” %*

After this you may now close it and do you restart, and after which, check your computer if it will still have the worm.

Hope this could help. Although I warn also, I do not recommend this if you don’t know what you are doing… :)

The Line has been Drawn…

Joshua 24:15
And if it seem evil unto you to serve the LORD, choose you this day whom ye will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the flood, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land ye dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve the LORD.

Recently, there’s this news that stunned me. It was news I heard from Ptr. Wilmark Canuto, who was at the moment filming a movie about Rapture and Tribulation. He talked about someone familiar to me and probably to Christian music lovers. It was Ray Boltz, stating that he admitted to be gay. (What?) Yes, gay…

It truly made me question, if he was even truly a Christian. His songs were known, and as what we may say, a hit song to Christians. I tried to search the net about this, and truly, there it is. Statements Ray Boltz did admit to the world that he is as what he thinks he is. Part of the article I read spoke also of a church denomination claiming to be Christians but accept gays, lesbians and the like. Reading also some feedbacks and comments, I could really see different sides or perspectives. But perhaps on my side, it made me question, “What is really happening in our world?” Verses started to creep in my mind, speaking of things to come and reminded me of all the warnings the Bible spoke of. The verses that lingered my mind were this:

2 Timothy 4:1-8
I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom; Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all long suffering and doctrine. For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables. But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry. For I am now ready to be offered, and the time of my departure is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing.

Other Christians pointed out verses too and talked about self deception, and about Sodom and Gomorrah. The typical verses that will be brought out when we debate and talk about this topics. While I could only think of are the warnings the Word of God has given us. This also reminded me of one of the singer I’ve read about too. It was Sandi Patti, who too has committed sin. Well, I’m not here to judge them or anything. That belongs to God. But as far as our spiritual life is concerned, how can one know one is truly a Christian or not? Well, only God knows.

As far from what I know, they could be backsliders (Christians who went back to their old ways) or not really Christians at all. One example of a backslider if I remember was Peter (with some fellow fishermen disciples… I believe). They went back to fishing again and left the ministry. But still at the end, they came back to minister again, knowing that Christ did rise again. And, thinking of a self-proclaiming Christian but not really a Christian? I can only think of the Rich young man who approached Christ and ask about attaining eternal life. (Matthew 19:16-22) He called Christ, “Master” and he did all the commandments, but his problem is his heart. For his heart desires and cherishes his riches more than God.

This is one thing I would like to give, a warning and a reminder, to search our hearts. What does our heart contain, or who rules over our own heart? Ourselves or God? I remember the verse Romans 10:9-10. One of the verses I reiterate and make sure that the one I’m leading to Christ, whether a child or a young people, understands this verse.

This verse speaks of the importance of the heart’s belief or faith, that out of the heart the mouth speaks for confession, and therefore salvation is attained. For the heart contains the truth and the real being of the person and perhaps our own will. The will to give our heart and mind, in other words our own self to God. For when we confess Christ as our Lord and Savior, therefore, we make Him Lord over us. The question is, as Christians, have we truly made that decision in our life? Speaking out or confessing with your mouth alone, the prayer of the sinner, without the heart believing is useless. I believe this is one of the failures of Christian witnessing. We are satisfied when one confesses with the mouth the prayer of the sinner, but the truth is we can never see the heart. It is only the person who confessed and God who can determine the state of the heart.

As for us who call ourselves Christians, this is the time I hope we would search our hearts as well. Have we truly made that decision in our life? Have we truly decided and chosen to follow God and serve Him? Have we truly made Him Lord of our life? The Lord is nearing fast as He unveils and fulfills the mysteries of His Word. And if that day comes? Which side will you be in? On God’s side? Or your own side? I pray that this be a reminder for all of us.

The Road to Predestination

Recent months, I’m very interested in this word “Predestination” and what does Fundamental Baptist believe on this matter. It is indeed one of the most debatable topics on theology and also I believe has a great impact on how we Christians view Christianity.

Of course every denomination has its own view about predestination (I think), as what I have been trying to research on it. But what do we believe regarding “predestination?” To be honest, I’m still trying to capture the whole idea of it on my mind, but definitely it’s spinning my head off.

Predestination in the Christian belief is God foreknowing and fore determining of every events happening from the smallest molecule to the vast and infinite universe, from past to present and future (hope that was correct). In addition, we always connect this to Salvation of Christians, of which we attain by God’s grace through faith. Verses that talks about predestination of Christians are found on the following verses:

Ephesians 1:3-5 (King James Version)
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ:
4According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love:
5Having predestinated us unto the adoption of children by Jesus Christ to himself, according to the good pleasure of his will.

Romans 8:28-30 (King James Version)

28And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
29For whom he did foreknow, he also did predestinate to be conformed to the image of his Son, that he might be the firstborn among many brethren.
30Moreover whom he did predestinate, them he also called: and whom he called, them he also justified: and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

One thing that may disturb us would be questions about the matter. Questions like “Does this mean we have no will of our own? Are we like then dummies? Or isn’t it unfair that God chooses who is to be saved?” these and other questions, which I actually myself have asked. These are the reason why I want to try and understand what we really believe about this.

But looking at God’s Word we find verses like Acts 16:31 “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.” Here we too see that we ourselves have our own free will, to choose to believe or not to believe; to receive Christ or reject Him.

Now this is really confusing isn’t it? Hehehe! Although one of my readings stated, it shouldn’t. But instead, predestination and free will of man coexist or does not conflict at all. Regarding free will, we basically don’t have an absolute free will.

Romans 3:9-11
9 What then? are we better than they? No, in no wise: for we have before proved both Jews and Gentiles, that they are all under sin;
10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
11There is none that understandeth, there is none that seeketh after God.

From the verse itself, it says man, whether Jews or Gentiles, have no desire to, neither to look for God, nor even choose which is righteous. In other words, our nature is to sin. That is because of Adam’s sin, which was passed to all men.

Romans 5:12
Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned:

Now that we have a sinful nature, we can no longer choose God, because man chose to sin. Now here is where we find the word GRACE, of which God has given us. Because of God’s grace He sent His Son Jesus Christ to die and bore the punishment of sin unto himself so that we might be made righteous once again.

Ephesians 2:8-9
For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest anyone should boast.

Now this verse truly explains that everything regarding our salvation is all God’s work. And we have no part of it. One preaching I heard said “Even our Faith comes from God” (that is one hard thing to understand).

Although, one explanation I read that may be logical, is that: God definitely knows everything, even the past and the future. And we Christians, I believe, agree on that argument. Therefore still, he knows every action or reaction we have in every circumstances we encounter. Now even if indeed we have our own will, God still has all the right to control every circumstance and can therefore alter things and allow things so that His will, will come to pass.

Perhaps one good illustration or example is what happened to Joseph, the dreamer. Joseph experienced such tremendous and painful events in his life, like his brother selling him to be a slave, being put to prison and the like. But God allowed this thing to happen so that His will of saving His people, the Israelites, will be fulfilled. It doesn’t mean that he authored evil things and even the sin of Joseph’s brothers, but that he allowed things to happen so that “His Will” will be done.

Definitely this doctrine of Predestination is so too much mind boggling and creates more questions. But perhaps one thing I learned from this all, is to thank God for choosing us to be His child. With this we can understand how Gracious God is. For we, who are worthy of nothing but trash, was made to be worth as His adopted child.

Re-reading the Bible

For quite some time I have just tried reading the Bible again… Hehehe! Surely I must admit. I haven’t really had my devotion for a long time. Perhaps have had my devotions using other books, but never practically tried to read directly from the Bible, chapter by chapter. Basically we Christians are fond of using other books as a guideline or something that will help us ease out our understanding of the Word of God, the Bible. But I believe the Bible can speak for its own, as it is closest to hearing God Himself speak by reading through the Word of God. True it’s hard to understand the words on its own, but as the Word itself has spoken, the Comforter will teach us all things and bring all things to remembrance. In other words, the Comforter or the Holy Spirit should teach us and reveal to us what we ought to learn.

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

Practically, I started reading the Bible after being challenged by my father recently, asking me if I have read the whole Bible. Of course my answer was “No.” I did remember: I tried reading it chapter by chapter when I was at high school, every night. I was consistent and tried to read a chapter every day at night. I even had my notebook trying to write things I learned. But as far as I can remember, I think I went as far as……. Oops I can’t remember….. I only remember the book of Genesis. I also remember repeating to read Genesis again. But that wasn’t my goal then, I wanted to read the whole Bible. But I failed. In other words, I wasn’t really that consistent. But one thing I learned, that even as I read the book of Genesis over and over again, I learn new things even from the same story. And perhaps, the same thing I see today.

Though I did not start at Genesis, I started reading Matthew instead. Basically, it made me feel different and think so different. I mean it felt like a new story to me, although I know the story of Mary and Joseph and everything. Perhaps, it’s because it has been long time since I read the Book that gives life. It reminded me of how impossible things God made possible. It also reminded me of God fulfilling His own promises. And as I continue to read, one chapter somehow struck me more. Matthew Chapter 5

If I could remember this chapter is where you can find what they call “The Beatitudes” (whatever that means). The latter verses, makes me fascinated on how Christ talked and preached that day. So indifferent from what man practically or instinctively responds to any circumstances Christ gave. It is totally the opposite of what man will respond. And truthfully? I can’t even see these responses to our day-to-day activities as Christians. I wonder if I can do the same. Truthfully at some point I too fail. But wouldn’t it be really great if this will be true to our lives? How amazing that would be?

I remember a part of Ptr. Donald Tandoc’s preaching, just recently, about meekness. Truly it is synonymous to the word humbleness. But I liked the way he defined it and he said “something” like this “Ang meekness po e ganito… Ikaw ay tinatadyakan na.. sinasampal na.. dinuduraan na… at wala ka pa rin ginagawa kundi patuloy na minamahal at minamahal ang taong gumagawa ng di maganda sa yo.” And that’s true! I agree with him. That’s because that’s the picture of how Christ died, suffered and agonized for the sake of me and for all mankind. The One who knew no sin, died at the cross, so that those who believe in Him might be saved. And, as I remembered, when Ptr. Tandoc asked the congregation “Kaya po ba natin gawin to?” I felt the silence that struck the congregation. Surely they seem to have never heard this kind of point of view before. Or perhaps, they weren’t really reading their Bible that much, when the Bible itself is actually covered all over it. Or, I mean it’s written all over it.

Oh, how I wish God’s people will learn to die for their brethren, as Christ has died for them as well…

1 John 3:16 (New International Version)
This is how we know what love is: Jesus Christ laid down his life for us. And we ought to lay down our lives for our brothers.

Roldan is Dead!

Haha! Quite a disturbing title I presume… but two things I’m pondering about when this thought comes to my mind. 1) The wonder of what does happens if this becomes true in the physical aspect? 2) The need of this phrase to be true in the spiritual aspect.

Well, the number one idea is simply a brink of my own thoughts of curiosity. Recently we have had several deaths in the past. And the most recent is the passing away of one of our faithful servant of the Lord, Mrs. Josefa Salinas. To be honest, I know only too little of her, but her name is known to many, and indeed I have heard of her deeds and ministries for the Lord and perhaps worthy to be called faithful servant of God. But one thing I may not forget of her is the time she helped my family through a piece of an amount that may have supplied enough the lacking amount needed for my father’s expenses when he was hospitalized. Interesting testimony of my mom would be all expenses were paid enough, no lacking nor excess, but simply enough.

And now, months after she had just visited my father, God took her home. I’m actually speechless, for I know I can not comprehend what God’s plan or will is for the matter. All I can only say perhaps is that she lived a meaningful life. Just looking at the people whom she has touched and made an impact…. they were many. Same scenery as I have been through the past deaths of the faithful servants of the Lord - remembering Ptr. Dawal, Ptr. Nick, Auntie Aning and Ptr. Bigornia. And I know those that have served the Lord whole-heartedly same picture would that be. Who then are the faithful? Perhaps a challenge towards the new generation of servants and ministers, will they also be faithful? And how about me, will I be faithful?

With all the happenings these days, being faithful to God maybe hardest ever, as we face a new world, a new era, where gadgets, internet, media, technology and knowledge has become the most prominent of this age. And, the other face of the earth shows that survival is the major factor that controls the life of a man. Sometimes, I wonder, are these happenings truly signifies the coming of our Lord? Just remembered Ptr. Marzan’s argument, a sign of Christ coming is the increase on knowledge of man.

Daniel 12:1-4
And at that time shall Michael stand up, the great prince which standeth for the children of thy people: and there shall be a time of trouble, such as never was since there was a nation even to that same time: and at that time thy people shall be delivered, every one that shall be found written in the book. And many of them that sleep in the dust of the earth shall awake, some to everlasting life, and some to shame and everlasting contempt. And they that be wise shall shine as the brightness of the firmament; and they that turn many to righteousness as the stars for ever and ever. But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.

And so runs my curiosity and imagination, will Christ come in this period? Will I see that time of His coming? So many questions; But perhaps my recent question still remains a wonder for my own. Will I experience death as well? If so, I wonder how many people will come. But anyhow, there’s one thing I may have learned about death. As just been reminded of dreams my sister and even I myself have had this year.

My sister dreamt of me dying in a simple falling down from jumping up to get a fruit of a tree. But my dream was different, I dreamed I went to the future yet knowing at the future I was already dead (by assassination, I believe…. I think I’m watching too much movies). Then, came back to the present, being given a gun by a chief police (who’s face seem familiar but I know not his name) just to protect myself, saying I’m the only one who can protect myself.

Well, that was just a dream, but as I have said, it maybe that I have learned about death. The fact that we all face this at a point in our life time, death makes us reflect and re-evaluate our life, our actions, our deeds, everything that is about life, and perhaps our Christian life. And perhaps one question should we put in mind as Christians, will God say to us “Well done, thou good and faithful servant.”

And, this is where the second point I’m pondering about. How do we become good and faithful servant? Or do we even want to become one? At this time? I’m sure most of us don’t care (probably) but when we meet our Creator? I’m sure you’ll desire to hear it.

But anyway how do we become good and faithful servant? Well, one thing is for sure, this is only concluded at the end of our lives and never in the middle of our life time. But in the mean time as we continue living our lives I have this verse in mind:

Galatians 2:20
I am crucified with Christ: nevertheless I live; yet not I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by the faith of the Son of God, who loved me, and gave himself for me.

I believe this is what Paul wants Christians should do. For he himself recognizes he has still his sinful flesh and the only way for him to live for Christ, is that he must die daily. And that is what I’m talking about. For as Christians, we ought to really die unto ourselves so that Christ may live in us. Our desires for His; our plans for His; our decisions for His; our everything for Him.

Matthew 16:24-28
Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul? For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works. Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

Decisions… Decisions… Decisions…

Well, it’s been a while… I haven’t been able to write anything and at this point I honestly don’t know what to write. But perhaps I could share a bit. For previous days, I’ve been quite in the middle of choices and decision-making situations. Though perhaps, I don’t want to be detailed about it. Or, perhaps share a bit of my perception & thoughts of it, and a bit of feelings into it.

From my previous posts, I’ve written about choices and consequences, and definitely this one is connected to it. Having put the wisdom of carefully watching my choices and knowing the consequences of it, is definitely a must, or I may end up in trouble, possibly hurting myself or hurting someone else, or possibly in a road to disaster.

For the previous days, I felt I was always on a cross-road. Two roads that lead to an unknown destination, but with the given help from the Almighty, one could perceive the destination of each road. The hardest of the cross-roads we could face, would be each road, demanding a sacrifice. And, for some reason, there is no other road better than these. And so, in every decision made, sacrifices are also made. There are times, I would really wish I could take the two roads at one journey, but that can never be done. So I always have to decide with all the wisdom that I hope comes from God. Prayer of course is my only light and my hope that leads me to where God wants me to be.

At times, I find myself as well, thinking and imagining what would have been my brothers’ decision on this matter. Of course I still look up to my brothers and their lives as a guide to every step I would make. But to my surprise and recollect, I’m already at a different road than my brothers (Hehehe…). Other times, I look at other adult people on how they decide. But somehow at times, I see their immaturity instead. I don’t know why, but perhaps it’s because, it’s far from the Wisdom God’s Word has taught me on my early young childhood. It’s funny how I see, that as we grow, it seems we become more timid or lazy to learn, and become un-teachable. We most often stick to what we’re so comfortable, most likely, the routines we do. Truthfully, it just proves the principle of God’s Word “Train up a child in a way he should go, for when he is old, he shall not depart from it.” Proverbs 22:6. Meaning, when we grow up its hard to take off what we have been trained to be. But anyway, life is a continuous growth; so still, we could also change negative characteristics of our own. It is just a matter of the willing heart to really accept and face the problem or the challenge itself.

Well, back to decision-making. As I grow, truthfully so many things change, and so many things happen and decision-making has a very big part of it. Sometimes, I too envy the young ones, who simply go to school and study and everything. Everything is like only in one direction, not much crossroads. Truthfully, this is one thing I didn’t notice even from the time I was studying. The hardest part of a student is simply thinking and facing how to go through obstacles on that one road, whereas being adult, seems to put you to many intersections of roads, with different obstacles and different outcomes or results. And this definitely requires wisdom. Wisdom if I may define it as “doing the right thing at the right time for the right situation,” though that would be simply human wisdom. Far greater wisdom would be God’s Divine Wisdom, of course, that would be doing what God’s Will is at the right time and at the right situation.

The question now would be, “Do we really know God’s Will?”

I remember the Cantata we had “Experiencing God, Knowing and Doing the Will of God.” That era was indeed exhilarating & thrilling, as the Cantata not only provides something to sing, but something to learn from. Truly as me and my colleagues (hehehe.. as if) learn from it, I could see back and reflect on some experiences I have had. That experience, that truly God is there and has always been there, it’s just that at times, I never did notice nor recognize Him. And, now the lessons we learned definitely gave an impact to my life and I’m sure to others as well. But the question continues on… “How do we know Him?” or “Do we really know Him?” The Experiencing God, mostly known to my fellow Loakanian young people as “EG”, basic idea is, “knowing Who God is in our lives”. And, by knowing Who God is, we then can know His will. And by knowing His will, therefore we know what we ought to do. Problem is “Are we doing it? Do we desire to know His will? And, do we desire to know Him as He is?”

Knowing Him, His will and doing it, is practically a day-to-day basis. It never stops. And I wonder if it will even stop, even if we’re with Him already… probably not. Paul himself recognizes this as well, as he himself (even if he was learned enough) continuously desiring to know Christ more and more.

Philippians 3:7-12
But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ. Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ, And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: That I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable unto his death; If by any means I might attain unto the resurrection of the dead. Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.

Hmmm.... I think we’ve gone too far from our topic. Anyhow, the matter is still connected, as what we know and believe definitely will affect our own judgments and on how we decide. Hopefully deciding what is God’s Will for us.

Current Events

Practically, can't think of anything to say at this moment, but perhaps it is a bit alarming (or perhaps get used to?) on the current events that are happening. Previously the Olympics 2008 just showed an awe-striking opening on the Olympics 2008 in Beijing.

Indeed it was very magnificent event. Though I probably want to stay and watch in TV rather than being personally there, or i will die of suffocation (hehehe! just exaggerating, but probably will trigger my asthma!). But for some reason, the event created issues as well. Just read some Yahoo news saying that some of it were fake or I may properly say, an illusion. Used with hi-tech gadgets for that matter (possibly better than causing too much smoke on the area). But if I were to rate it? It would be perfectly awesome. I believe none has yet been able to do so, nor none has expected such a tremendous preparation.

But, while the globe is so focused and centered on the event happening. One thing unexpected has happened as well. It seems war will strike again. Reading from the news, Russia and Georgia seem to have their conflicts. And of course, thousands of people are affected by it. I'm just unsure how many already have died.

Locally, we too have a problem of our own, recently the MILF has been been exchanging fires with the military. They have infiltrated the towns somewhere in the Northern Cotabato. And, more pitiful families are affected by it. Not knowing their security, that may also cost their lives.

Far more than this is still our economic problems we are encountering, rice shortage, oil price hike, jeepney fare price hike, everything going high, in addition, corruption seem to grow more and greedy men becoming more greedy. Really sounding like more and more like what has been foretold in the prophetic books of the Bible.

So much things really happening, but still, we Christians hope. Hoping for that day when Christ shall take His people. That is our Blessed Hope. Hope of which we Christians stand to live for or even die for. For it is a promise God has given to those who receive and believe Christ to be their Lord and Savior.

Revelation 21:1-5
1)And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea.(2) And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.(3) And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God.(4) And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.(5) And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

May we continue to take hold of that hope and display it as well in our lives. That they who do not know Christ may see it and will come to know Christ as well.

Food for E-Knowledge

As for now, internet and online community is growing rapidly. But do you know that, the more you interact with the internet, giving passwords and email address is like giving all information about you? Be aware of these things. Just by giving your password means giving all information about you.

At this point, I know I have not all the knowledge about Technical stuff and the like, but perhaps I have enough knowledge, knowing that one can use just a little information from you to know more about you. I have been reading a lot about hacking recently and found out a great deal with the net craze. As statistics also states that everyday websites are easily hacked and infiltrated, which may prove on the site we are working on.

In other words, personal privacy on the internet might be at risk. Or in more other words, you can be easily spied on. The word spy defines as “watching secretly”. Far more about spying is stealing information on the particular target without even being detected or known. Practically, that’s what happening in very fast growing net craze.

Other than hacking is virus infiltration. Most basic virus would definitely infiltrate your computer and somewhat do something unruly to your computer. Another type of bad program that are being spread around is spywares. As what its name defined, it’s a program to steal information about your computer and maybe information about you. Practically its almost the same as hacking and of the tools hackers use.

But I’m not here to scare you guys or something. I’m just here to warn. And a tip for it? Be WISE. Wisdom is more than enough that could be helpful in this kind of scenery. Wisdom will of course move you to learn more about the matter. Wisdom will also guide you to choose what is right from what is wrong (e.g. would you click on something you know contains evil on it?) Wisdom would definitely help you to be careful (thinking first before doing). And the like…

Proverbs 4:7 Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom.
Though it cost all you have, get understanding
.

Churches on Dilemma

Recently I have had a good conversation with my father, talking about the churches in connection as well with his previous work or ministries. Indeed, new knowledge have I acquired, regarding the Fundamental Baptist Churches here in the Philippines and its relation with the known organization, ABWE.

He talked about their ministries and a goal as to plant more churches, other than this is to teach and preach the Word of God. As to fulfill also what Paul has taught Timothy, “2 Timothy 2:2 And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.” My father talked about the “Church Constitution and By Laws,” as one of the important heirloom of a Fundamental Baptist Church, that should be passed from church generations to generations. As far as I know and been discussed, the “Church Constitution and By Laws” is a guideline for Fundamental Baptist Churches written and inspired through the Word of God (correct me if I’m wrong).

He spoke about the constitution, as perhaps one that separates the Baptist Fundamentalists from Bible Baptist Churches, Southern Baptist Churches and other Baptist Churches or perhaps will define our distinction from these churches, as they may too have their own constitution.

Here is the Dilemma, I want to point out. Our churches are in a dilemma, since the new generations have never been trained or taught about these things. Never have been learned what separates us from other churches. And so, we are on no bounds or in the midst of confusion. In fact, even our history is a mystery in the midst of our churches, or in other words, sometimes we don’t know where our beliefs came from or who has taught us these things first. True, the Word of God has taught us what we believe, but who we’re the ones that have given us this knowledge. Whose feet have walked the mountains to preach and to teach the gospel? Anyway, my point is what makes us fundamentalist and why is there other Baptist? I think, believers must understand and know these things. Why? Perhaps, it’s the same sense as to the reason why you must know where and how you are given a name or Surname. Or perhaps why you can call yourself a Christian? Can you simply call yourself a Christian without knowing why or how did you come about?

The effect of not having the knowledge on this matter is already being seen in our days: compromising, confusion, self-deception, easily deceived, etc. But perhaps, it is indeed one of God’s Word being fulfilled, as we are in the “Perilous Times” (2 Timothy 3). But far more than the constitution, this is where I would like to challenge Christians, to be more rooted in God’s Words. The Constitution and by laws perhaps is the basic belief and practices that we Christians should put in mind and should be put in practice or actions. And so much more God’s every Word.

In 2 Timothy 3:14But continue thou in the things which thou hast learned and hast been assured of, knowing of whom thou hast learned them;” Paul instructs Timothy to continue in the things he has learned. This verse is much challenged to us Christians this day. The problem is, “Are we Christians learned of every God’s Word?” or “Are we trained and taught of every need-to-learn, as member of a Church?”

For this matter, the call to be rooted in God’s Word is very much alive and kicking. Calling Christians that they must be equipped and be learned for the reason that these days, we will face so many deceptions and testing of our faith. Hope we Christians indeed focus our attention to His Word and His teachings and of course to our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, for if you don’t, you are on a dilemma. And the church you will be in would be on a dilemma as well.

2 Timothy 3:16 & 17 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works.
