Here's our Caroy Clan beach outing... our traditional end of the year outing... mostly held at the beach... quite interesting though... we are the only ones who seem to go down last December 31, 2008... baka lahat sila tumaas Baguio... hehehehe!

The beginning of the end

The end of 2008 draweth nigh, and the dawn of 2009 approaches!

As the year ends, all we could do is stop and think back. Throughout the year that has transpired and passed through, indeed a lot of things have happened. Things never foreseen or may be expected. But I wonder what I have learned throughout the year 2008. I can only see paths and decisions made. Decisions that may change or alter the paths we take and lead us to destinations, opportunities and goals we pursue in this life. As we look back, indeed there are a lot of memories, memories which will stay as is. Foot trails we can never erase.

But looking toward the future, we see more opportunities. We also see more challenges and trials. We may also see what life awaits us. But as Christians, may we see Christ as our main goal in life. Looking toward as He Himself draws nigh. The future only leaves us with questions. Questions of what will come to pass and what will we become of?

I myself have a lot of questions. And as time emerges change will definitely occur. The question is, “what kind of changes will this be?” But I wonder more on the spiritual matters of this world. Previously, we may have already seen the signs and warnings God’s Word fulfilling or fulfilled. I wonder how this will affect God’s people. I even wonder if these things would even affect Christians or not, or will they seemly continue on, never minding what lies ahead. New generations emerge, and sometimes God’s principles and His ways seem to be more than just a myth. The phrase “To live for Christ, to die is gain” seems to me, but just a mere word or phrase, lost its meaning and never to be shown or even known.

But perhaps the only thing I could do is leave this challenge. As we face the beginning of the end, who will you serve and who will you follow?

Who is your enemy?

Whenever in the battle field, it’s important for one to know “who is the enemy”. Basically, it’s one important aspect or factor if you ever decide to go to war. But I wonder, do you know the moment you received Christ as your Lord and Savior, that’s the same time you decided to go to war? Although in the spiritual sense, even when we we’re born physically, we are already at war. Because from the beginning of our life (except for Adam and Eve), we we’re at war with God. We just didn’t know it.

Romans 8:7 (King James Version)
Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be.
James 4:4 (King James Version)
Ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God.

But once you received the Lord Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior, your enemy was changed. You are now against the world, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against Satan himself and his cohorts.

Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

Last verse (v12) describes who now our enemy is, as Christians. For some particular people, or Christians, they think we don’t need to bother to know our enemy or know what he can do against us. But I believe, as God has given us the Scripture, and the Scripture speaks a little or perhaps enough about our enemy that proves that we Christians need to know who our enemy is and what he can do against us Christians. Here are some verses describing who our enemy is:

Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour:
2 John 1:7 (King James Version)
For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.

And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night.

Reading the verses above and perhaps other books that may help you to identify our enemy, we may know him as the destroyer, the deceiver, the accuser of the brethren and other names that may describe him. Basically, these names also describes what he does, like for example, the name “Destroyer”. This pertains to his ability or craftiness in destroying people’s lives. Mainly his targets are of course Christians who do the will of God. Just sighting the life of Job, Satan was allowed by God to do anything against Job except to take his life. And, indeed he was able to destroy Job’s life, seeing that his wife left him and asked him to curse God and die. He experienced pain and sickness and losing his sons and daughters. This is just one example, and we can list a lot more perhaps. “Deceiver” as we know who acts simply to deceive or mislead people to do sin. What he does is to make things wrong to become right, and right to become wrong in the eyes of men. Being known also as the” Accuser”, or Accuser of the brethren, primarily to really target believers and accuse them of their old sins or past sins. By doing this, Christians who are weak and give in to the accusations of the enemy and does not hold on to the Righteousness of Christ which was imputed upon us (Romans 4, 2 Corinthians 5:21), is the enemies’ target.

So be warned and be ready. A soldier of the Lord should know who is his enemy.

Signs of time...

Here is something so blatantly been sent to email addresses.. and I got to get just a copy of it from our email add of our workplace. but before i show it. Read this verse first to be reminded that Christ did prophecy things to come.

Matthew 24:3-14
And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you. For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows. Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another. And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. But he that shall endure unto the end, the same shall be saved. And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

from these verses indeed we read Christ saying about false prophets and the like. We already know many have already popped out and blatantly say they are the Christ. And, perhaps as Christians expect more to come. But then as always the Bible is our guide and foundation of our faith and greater indeed that every Christian should know their Bible. If therefore you are weak, pray first that God will protect you and will guide you and teach you. And all things you have learned, may you remember it always. This I say that you read God's Word for this is your greatest defense against false teachers and false witnesses.

My covenant with the peoples of the Philippines is written in my open book (The Salvation of God Through the Son of Man). The 40-day period started on November 16, 2008. I started to e-mail my open book and my open letter (The Signs of the Times) to the Islands of the Philippines on November 16, 2008.

It makes me shiver and alarmed that such people do this, but perhaps, does really remind us Christians to know our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, and fulfill His commission. To be watchful and careful. Knowing who is false and Who is the Truth. We have a great task to fulfill and that is preaching & teaching the TRUTH and that is Christ Jesus.
